Since Europe has expanded its borders and EU citizens are free to cross into each other’s homeland, this brings with it an increase in EU interest groups embracing the richness that cultural diversity offers via the internet. Some examples include:
The European Cultural Foundation launched an online inter-cultural meeting place called Rhiz.eu at the start of 2008 European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. Rhiz from rhizome, meaning ‘a usually underground, horizontal stem of a plant that often sends out roots and shoots from its nodes’ aims to stimulate and promote cultural cooperation and policies across Europe.
The Central, Eastern Europeans and UK website aims to bring people and culture together. Individuals and business men and women can promote themselves, share their experiences and ideas and contribute in their own small way to the success of this online community.
With over 75,000 EU registered members, the Eastern Europe Expatriates Forum is dedicated to discussions from across the regions on subjects such as housing, leisure, jobs and business and opportunity to reach out to meet new friends from all walks of life.
